CERTIFIED PRACTISING ACCOUNTANTS
The office is open again as from 1st June. We are obliged to comply with social distancing measures in accordance with Government Guidelines. This will include additional hygiene measures, a restriction of only one visitor at a time in the office and all meetings with any member of staff must be by prior arrangement only. We should be grateful if everyone could assist us as far as possible in keeping us all safe. Telephone and email remain the safest way to contact us but you may drop records off at any time. Prior notice for collection of any item would help us with distancing within the office.
Payroll obligations are the biggest concern for many. There is guidance here from HMRC regarding claiming back 80% of wages payments made to employees who suffer enforced absences. This guidance also confirms a 3 month delay in making Vat payments and provides details of available grants and the business interruption loan scheme. For the latter it is best to try and speak with your own bank initially.
A support package for the Self Employed is now in place. Whilst we are not permitted to make claims for our clients please contact us for more details.
For clients concerned with self assessment payments the instalments due in July have been postponed until January. There is also a helpline for currently outstanding liabilities: https://www.gov.uk/difficulties-paying-hmrc
Companies House have confirmed that filing extensions for company accounts may be sought so long as an application is made before the deadline for filing has passed.
The implementation of new IR35 rules has been delayed until 2021.
